I hit a woman on the arm yesterday. I was an accident and she didn't seem injured. I think I hit a book she was carrying too which absorbed much of the force.

But why should such a thing occur you may ask? Well I was reacting very quickly to something unusual I had seen.

I saw a fly sitting on the back of my hand. An unusual occurrence anytime in Britain, but even more so in early April. I reacted quickly but not deftly. I simply flailed my arm around in a most undignified manner and it happened to connect.

So if you are reading this and were accidentally biffed on the arm the other day by somebody who was writing away furiously on a southbound train then I sincerely apologise.
