I saw a little private moment, or maybe not.

All it was was a woman* giving her boyfriend a pinch on the bottom.

And I thought, "oh I wasn't supposed to see that". And then I wondered whether it was precisely because there was somebody walking behind them thought they had such happy grins on their faces.**

* There has been a debate raging in the popular press these last few weeks as to whether it is demeaning to refer to women as "girls". Of course such talk is insane. But I'm particularly concerned that if we loose the term "girl" we will loose the term "girlfriend". It's a phrase I really like not least because it has so many connotations. For example, "This is my girlfriend" vs. "Don't go there girlfriend". And anyway if we loose girlfriend and boyfriend we are left with partner which just seems less fun somehow.
